hey kids - i'm back. so i was in the middle (i wish) of writing my thesis. it has to be 50 pages, double spaced. I am on page 14. pretty good for one night - right? I thought so. in fact I figured that was good enough to be done for the night and do something else. which i did for all of 5 min before i remembered the four papers I have due the week after next. damn. so i wrote four pages of my internship paper. good times. all i have left for that is to write 2 pages on each book i have to read, which i have only read one of. but on the upside, i started conason's book today, and am already on, ready for this?, page 5. i rock. but it'll get done, everything does.
it's a lonely coast for an As fan. the first red sox -yankees game tonight, as i type to bosox are winning. for me this is a game between the evil and the lesser evil. while i am no yankees fan (see post-season 2002) i am neither a bosox fan (see post-season 2003). this puts me in a dilemma - who do i cheer for? i guess given the choice i do feel bad for the bosox, but it's not like the As are in a pot of good luck. we usually lose our best players each season to bigger, richer teams (read: bosox and yankees) but this year we kept hold of our pitching staff and new hottie bobby crosby - who i enjoy quite a bit. maybe this is our year . . .
political corner: has anyone heard of this new show on HBO (or is it showtime?) - the american candidate? it's like american idol, only political. apparently HBO is going to air this show and people will apply to be on it, and people will call in and vote for who their favorite candidate is, and then this person will run for president. in the real world. does anyone else find this disturbing? i heard about this 2 years ago, as a thing rupert murdoch (everyone's favorite media conglomerate) was doing. it frightened me then - and it does now. maybe it's just cause i've politics and entertainment on the brain, but still - this seems a little absurd to me - or is this just true democracy at work? what do you think?
