as i know everyone has been waiting breathlessly, here's my take on the CBS "scandal" . . . so yes, CBS did some bad reporting with these documents - they were obvious fakes . . . maybe too obvious. here's my take: these documents were so obviously forged, CBS missed the real story - someone (possible a republican operative) made these forgeries and passed them onto CBS. why would a republican want this information out there? because 1. it was stuff that was going to be released anyway and 2. this way they could control the debate. have you noticed that NO ONE has criticized the actual content of the memos? that's because the content, what really matters, is all true. republicans have framed this debate arounf the documents themselves and not the content. it was a brilliant move on their part because no one is talking about the fact that bush skipped out on his service! if anyone caught 60 minutes last week rather interviewd Jerry Killian's secretary - who said that while she never typed those exact memos, she did type memos with the same lanaguge. i.e. someone has those original memos and created new ones based on them. so when cbs called sources and read the memos to them over the phone for verification they believed the memos were accurate! so the content was true - why hasn't anyone picked up on this? what do you guys think? do you see my point on this, or have i been in the beltway too long?
