"What do you call a large?"
at starbucks this morning and this woman ordered a large coffee and was very confused when they started calling it a venti. i found this alarming. are there people out there not up to date on starburcks coffee sizes? i thought that was one of those things that us americans had pretty much figured out. or i live a way too commerical life.

Yeah, but it doesn't have to be an either or... my walks in the sunshine are made infinetely better by a Grande Skim Vanilla Latte. We choose these things because they make our lives pleasant and easier, not because we are thinking about globalization and its discontents every morning before we've had our coffee.
And, I might add, Starbucks happens to have placed in the Top 100 Corporate Citizens rankings for the last five years in a row... as big companies go, it's very socially conscientious. You want to compain about globalization, tackle that small town-bastion of values Wal-Mart.
