hey all. i don't know that i necessarily have anything particular to blog about - but i did feel the urge to blog. but not to fear, i just headed over to washingtonpost.com and found this awesome op-ed by the fabulous e.j. dionne. dionne is one of the top reporters in the country, you can always count on him to be fair. he is not partisan, and has slammed both parties several times. he watches the political world with us in mind. either way, in this article he talks about all the lies that bush has gotten himself into (and he didn't even get into any of the saddam is best buddies with osama lie, or even the there are WMDs in iraq lie - both of which constitute pretty huge fuck ups on their own) he just talks about how badly the president distorts what kerry says and how he lies about his own record. it's amazing how easily people trust him. at this point in the conversation, most people would say that american people are stupid and they can't tell that they are being lied too. however, i disagree. the american people are not stupid, actually, they are quite smart and interested in this stuff - but only to the degree they can be interested. most people have a million other things to do in their day - and politics is only one . . . if only there was a group of people who were dedicated to figuring out these types of things . . . perhaps a group of people who could dedicate 8 hours or more a day to finding the truth behind what politicians say and behind the important issues in the day, and maybe, just maybe we could figure out a way to distill this information and cast it broadly out to the public - we could call it . . . hmmm broadcasting? oh wait - we do have journalists, shit. well maybe they should start doing their job, like e.j. dionne.
