ok, so it's been awhile. sorry. things are a little busy . . . but i've got a helluva blog ahead for you - so sit back and enjoy.
we had steny hoyer (#2 in the house under nancy pelosi)in town yesterday for a few events - very very cool. lots of work, but generally a good thing. so steny, of course, comes with his own secret service contingent. which means a few things, most importantly that no one is better at advance than the secret service (no suprise there) so you don't have to know how to get from one event to the next - they already know, and know the best way - it is truly awesome. in addition they automatically make you look more important and they hold the door for you. so here's the scene at our second event yesterday: steny, his guy, chris, lead doctors at uconn, secret service guys and me. it is always an insanely cool thing for me to be the youngest and/or only woman in whatever power group i'm in. makes me feel very empowered. the first step is just getting in the room, being the center of attention in said room comes later. i know that's like totally a dc frame of mind - but i can't help it - it felt so freakin cool. here's hoping this kind of stuff continues.
in other non-political news i have officiall made my debut into the hartford social scene. my friend ivy and i just had out pictures in the hartford advocate column, the lush life. yea, the picture isn't awesome - but what can you do.
in even more non-political news - in the past 3 weeks one of my friends has gotten married and 2 more have gotten engaged. i guess it really is that time of our lives, but man. i can't say that i was completly ready for this. i mean one wedding, sure some people get married early, 1 engagement, ok, it's not like a wedding - but all that in 3 weeks is too much for someone who can only commit to a FEC filing in 29 days. but best wishes to all the happy couples - and congrats on the stability ahead in your futures!
hope all is well with everyone out there who reads this!
