hey kids. so i'm done with classes. 2 finals and a thesis (in 6 days) and i will officially be done with college. good god. not much to say, work is slow today. i have a nagging feeling there is stuff i'm forgetting to do . . . today is a little off b/c i'm playing receptionist (never that much fun). either way, whatever i'm supposed to be doing will just have to continue to be forgotten. oh well. so i've been keeping up with the blog thing, so now you have to do your part! comment on the chatter box (up at the top!) seriously, my life isn't that exciting - what do you want to hear about?

hello all! today is going to be a good day. got two more papers turned in . . .4 more tomorrow and that's it (except for 2 finals and a thesis, but really - does that matter?) yikes! so i just got back from buying my ticket to atlantic city for senior week (don't ask why but for some reason i was convinced it was free . . . but then i remembered what school i went to . . . ) as i was walking back to my room it hit me that i won't be walking around campus very much anymore. it seems insane that i am graduating college. i mean i just started going to GW - how do i only have one more (full, of course) day of classes left!? it's a complete mystery to me . . . why else is it a good day? 1 reason really - 7:00pm espn. a's vs yankees. we may have lost last nite, but it was a mistake, no doubt, we were too easy on them, given they just got a harsh beating from the bo sox. tonight i'll be watching every play, and my boys never let me down when i'm there for them! i love baseball. except at orioles stadium. in the cold. for a 4 hour game that wouldn't die. and no beer allowed.

so there has been this awesome series in the post for the past few days (sun - tues) about how divided our country is electorally - red american vs. blue america. nevermind that i wrote a paper about that on sat and on sun the post comes out with it . . . whatever. they did a profile of the reddest of red americans (texas) and the bluest of blue americans (san francisco). of course, people commented how lucky i was to be raised in the bluest of blue americas . . . and i was lucky to be in a liberal area - but castro valley is ideologically hours from san francisco. let's all think back to the 2000 elections, the bay area went for gore (as did california as a whole) but there is a good chunk in the middle that's fairly red (that's what you get when you have such a huge and important state like california . . . ) and they all probably voted for bush. castro valley probably fit amongst those red people right? no, of course not - bush was way too liberal for cv - we voted for buchanan. that's right, pat buchanan - man of the people. who doesn't believe in the holocaust. so really, even though i was only 20 min away from the bluest of clue americans, i lived in another world. i count myself extremely lucky i was able to get out, and with my blue values intact.

quick note: although castro valley has it's red side, we are also home to the largest amount of fast food restaurants in a square mile. awesome.

hi all (or anyone that actually reads this). i have two weekends left in my GW career. frightening. and one of them will undoubtedly be filled with intense thesis work in addition to finals studying. why keller decided this semester to start actually making us work is beyond me but i consider it a personal insult. my family is coming in 2 and a half weeks and there is so much that needs to be done before that can happen! i still have 7 papers, a thesis and 2 finals. not to mention trying to have fun and work at my new job (yay) all the time. although big news - I FOUND AN APARTMENT! score. it's beautiful and amazing and has a great location and wonderful view. plus it's 865 a month including utilities . . . i am a very lucky girl. it's like a few blocks off from dupont - good times. it's a little walk from the metro, but it's not too bad. plus without hw what else will i have to do with my time? honestly i am very confused as to what one does on a weekend without papers to write or books to read . . . i'm hoping that a lot of sleep is involved. i have to do this journal of my internship experience and i am just avoiding it like the plague. speaking of the plague - apparently in dc every 17 years we have some sort of locust infestation? they come up from the ground and there is vibration involved and loud screeching noises? my roommate caitlin told me about it - it sounds a little shady to me - but apparently this is the summer for the locusts to come out - so get excited . . . i guess that's all for now. adios!

p.s. i hate missing people you don't want to miss at all
