hello again! i apologize for my infrequent blogging as of late - GREs and such. but i am pleased to report that as of now, the day before the test, i am flying high and should do fabulously on them. well not fabulous per se, but pretty damn good for me! i am even pleased with my math score - which, if you know me, is a huge surprise! i have managed to relearn everything i ever knew about math (which granted, is not a lot) and even learn new things that maybe would have made life a little easier in high school . . . but whatever i'm older and wiser now. so bottom line: tomorrow should be good. and after tomorrow, my life as a college grad without a worry in the world can officially begin!!

2 political thoughts for the day: 1 - i am going to see farenheit 911 today. the big US opening was in DC last night at a beautiful theater called the Uptown which i have been to many times - fun. i will of course blog tomorrow (or later tonight, given my mood) about the movie itself - but allow me ot take this time to comment on the buzz. i don't think this movie will have a huge impact in november, i want it to - and i think that people who see this movie will have serious doubts about voting for bush, but call me crazy in that i don't imagine a lot of hard core republicans will be lining up to buy tickets . . . i do think it'll do a great job firing up the base - which is always a good thing for dems. the film is supposed to be incredibly moving and well done, in addition to politically controversial - sounds like my perfect film! although i am a little nervous that the sept 11 stuff will hit a little hard - sometimes it's still a little raw for me - that day is still so vivid. i think that dems are right to embrace michael moore, even if he is a little more left than most people. the republicans embrace rush limbaugh and he plays the same role. but lucky for us, film is a much more powerful medium than radio. sweet. and no, i'm not bias towards film at all . . . i think that this documentary will speak to a lot of people, and i think that if swing voters go to see it they may lean away from bush - but i'm not sure that will put them in the kerry camp. i am afraid they won't vote at all. mainly the movie criticizes the war, which kerry did support in the beginning of everything. i wish it had a more pro-dem feeling, as opposed to an anti-republican one, but then again maybe no one will notice the difference.

political thought #2: watch out for barack obama in illinois. a friend at work made this comment, and it wouldn't shock me - plus it would be an amazing ticket. "edwards-obama - 2012" a little early to predict maybe . . . but better to start a buzz now . . .

so i told myself i wouldn't blog because i should be studying for the GREs, but oh well. and tonight i won't blog about politics. technology is the name of the game. 1. lack of calculator availability on the GRE - namely - you are not allowed to have one. in the real world, you always have a calculator and knowing things like 4 x 17 off the top of your head does not equal success. therefore not being able to use a simple calculator for simple things is frustrating for those of us who choose to use our math brains for more important things. i don't know how people know these silly math things, like square root of 169. why is that important!? whatever. 2. why does GRE prep software only come in windows? not everyone who takes this test uses a PC! what are us poor mac users supposed to do? unfair, cruel PC-dominated, calculator-suppressing world.
